Multi-artist musical evening
In addition to having produced a weekly acoustic music series featuring an even mix of female and male performers at Humphrey’s Music Club as well as Caffeinds on Broadway in San Diego, California, BSP has produced several single one-night multi-artist events like this one:
Bionic Sisters Productions and North Coast Repertory Theatre have teamed up for the first time to produce a special multi-artist musical evening at NCRT, one night only! Dessert will be served after the show.
A variety of very talented acoustic recording artists will perform songs on guitar, piano, and an ancient Chinese instrument, the gu zheng. Performers include:
Mira Parfitt - San Diego-based acoustic guitar songstress
Jing Jing Evans - internationally renown gu zheng player, as well as champion martial artist
Christine Parker - not-to-be-missed singer/songwriter currently recording at Studio West
Mark and Marshall Hattersley - a father/son duo including producer/composer Mark from the San Diego Songwriters Guild and poetic balladeer Marshall, currently recording at Club Bohemia
A portion of proceeds will benefit the exciting Arts for Healing Program at Sharp McDonald Center, a program that uses art and music as an integral part of addiction treatment and recovery.
Bionic Sisters Productions has produced musical evenings since 2002, placing special emphasis on promoting women performers, but all shows feature both women and men. More than 200 BSP performers have appeared on stages including Humphrey’s Music Club, Anthology, the Westgate, and at La Valencia. BSP President Bridget Brigitte McDonald is a writer and composer who works with the Women’s International Center to honor, encourage and educate women. This year, she is a finalist among nominees at San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Awards.
North Coast Repertory Theatre Artistic Director David Ellenstein has directed Words By Ira Gershwin and the Great American Songbook which runs Oct 17 - Nov 11, so this special music night is the perfect “Off Night” follow-up to a moving play about songwriting. NCRT has recently celebrated producing more than 80 plays in San Diego!
Because our Four Musicians Four Songs event is just two days before Thanksgiving, guests are invited to bring a canned or dry food donation (canned meats, soups, fruits, vegetables, dry beans, pasta, rice, grains, infant formula, peanut butter) for the San Diego Food Bank. Donations are accepted over two weeks from November 5 through November 21, 2012 in the red barrel at NCRT.
